I Burned the Boat &

I Burned the Boat & https://cohenovate.com/2026/04/19/i-burned-the-boat/

It was a crisp spring day with a perfect temperature for being outside to do outside things. The leaves called my name, and my neighbor lent me his super beast mode blower. I probably should have one of these but sure is nice to borrow one and give it back.

After hours of blowing leaves and feeling like I wasn’t making a dent in them, I decided to push as many as I could up against a rock and burn them.

Yeah, this is true. I didn’t think deeply about the consequences of my actions and my immediate focus was getting rid of the leaves.

It was a really beautiful day, there was no wind and I thought if anything happened, it wouldn’t be a big deal to get some water from the hose.

__

The world has rules, these rules are unbreakable. These are the things that we can’t debate. Action, reaction, science, fact. If I light something on fire, the fire will do what fire does. It isn’t as if I could tell the fire to do something different. There isn’t a place for me to command the fire to stop with just my voice.

So, I lit up the pile of leaves. It was going well until the fire went down into the ground. I watched the fire literally go under my feet and then I became concerned. Where was it going? Within moments I heard a crackling sound and looked across to the aluminum rowboat my son uses for fishing.

The leaves under the boat exploded into a fire ball and the boat started to melt under the heat.

I ran up to grab the blower and water hose, but it was too late. I destroyed his boat.

Now I had to secure the whole area because the fire could go anywhere. I had to dig out dirt, move leaves, water everything and stand a fire watch for the rest of the day until the smoldering underground burning subsided.

I was upset with myself for not thinking about this more clearly. I was upset for not preparing properly and for taking risks that I didn’t need to take. I threw caution into the wind because I wanted an immediate outcome.

I got an immediate outcome. I have a melted boat and blacked earth. I still have more leaves to deal with but now the smell of smoke and ash fill the air everywhere and I didn’t accomplish the initial goal of getting rid of the leaves.

If one of my kids did this, I would have been upset but it was me who did it. I was the one not thinking. I was the one who threw caution literally into the wind. I will have to pay for it and I’ll have to take care of it.

Not only did I destroy something that had meaning and purpose, I have to replace it and I have to do something with it.

I had to answer for it. I don’t have a good answer for why this happened other than I wasn’t thinking about the consequences of my actions.

My Neighbors Boat

I was able to get the fire out. I watched all day and night for smoke or fire. Initially, there were a few times I needed to put it out as the fire was not above ground, it was spreading under my feet. There were places where the fire ran out of fuel and energy. At the same time, there were plenty of routes for the fire to take.

What I didn’t think about beyond my actions that hurt me personally was the risk I put on my neighbor. What about his boat? What about his house?

I was able to stop it well before it got even near there, but it still has me thinking about how connected and impactful we are in the world and with each other.

The actions we take personally that we may even believe have no impact on anyone else, can inadvertently affect others. We aren’t just simply responsible to ourselves in a vacuum.

The world doesn’t work this way. The world has us intertwined with each other in many ways.

The actions we take, the things we do, they create results for us but there is a very real opportunity for these to change the lives of those around us. In some cases, we can impact many people near and far.

..

Thankfully I wasn’t hurt. I stopped the fire; I lost a boat. It did upset me that I lost the boat. I am sure that my son is disappointed and upset. I know I impacted him and I have to make it right. I am sorry for it. I did learn a lesson, and I won’t let it go without being mindful of this moving forward.

As embarrassing as it is, I want to share this with you because there is something hidden here in the wreckage of this melted aluminum artifact.

The decisions that we make have consequences. These consequences are clear through the laws that are well beyond our comprehension. These are natural laws. Laws of cause and effect that may be or become out of our control.

As I consider my impact on the world, I realize clearly that I can set fires that I may have no way to stop. There are also positive actions I can take that have far reaching impacts. I can also be thoughtful of “controlled burns” if needed.

So many possibilities here. The thing that keeps coming back to me is that my action can and will have a result. It may not end up the way I want or intend.

While in this case, it was unfavorable, I am still taking it as a lesson. I am grateful that it didn’t spread and that it wasn’t worse. The boat had two flags on it. When they melted, I felt something emotional. Yes, we are starting fires that impact our flag as well. It was ironic and telling.

It certainly has me thinking…

Happy Sunday ..

Much Love..

Throw Away &

Throw Away & https://cohenovate.com/2026/04/28/throw-away/

As we continue to advance, we are realistically falling behind. Our throw away mentality makes it increasingly difficult to maintain old equipment, save newer technologies or make decisions that are economically feasible and good for our world.

Last week, I had a set of headphones gifted to my son in December for the holidays. When I reached out to Apple to get help with the power button which is a known issue, they wanted to charge $145.00 for repairs. I could go to Target and get a brand new pair on sale for $149.00. I could also get a refurb pair on Amazon for $119.00. It took three chat sessions and an hour phone call to get these set up for repair. I had to convince them that it was the right thing to do.

How many things could I have done to make it easier for me? Unfortunately, the world we live in makes it easier for us to do things that are more convienient and faster vs doing things that are more in line with doing the right thing.

Sunday came and went, I was jamming on repairing something else. I find now that I need to produce parts or spend a lot of time to find alternatives in our throw away society. It takes me 3-5x the amount of time to repair vs replace but I think we should be fixing things instead of throwing them away.

What do you think?

Interesting is not Interest

Interesting is not Interest https://cohenovate.com/2026/04/12/interesting-is-not-interest/

Hello fellow traveler! This week I took about 15 phone calls from people that I didn’t know. What were the topics?

  1. Coaching
  2. SaaS solutions
  3. Leadership
  4. Innovation
  5. Technology
  6. Picking the brain
  7. Networking
  8. Connections
  9. Looking for work
  10. Looking to understand what COO’s do

I took all the calls and had some good conversations. What I find interesting is that many people will still use e-mail campaigns to reach out to people or cold calls on LinkedIn. Most people have a specific interest wrapped up through a dialogue of some form of admiration or respect.

I am not “knocking” anyone here, people are looking to make a living, and they see me from a far and have a perspective. As I have written in my profile, we are 1000 people to 1000 people.

The closer people get while developing the story, or the narrative they had in their minds eye, the more they move from being interested to either having an interest or looking for a way out of the conversation.

People will reach out to you and seek to size you up within 10-15 minutes to identify if you are going to help them or not. It is pretty interesting if you think about it. They want something from you. They don’t know much about you or who you are. They will do a cursory glance or maybe use AI to figure it out.

They reach out to you, and they look to schedule a meeting. Often times, they’ll want you to work from their calendar. You know, it is convenient for them. From there, if you are willing to meet with them, they will seek to create some form of dialogue which expresses their admiration for you.

Once they establish this, they seek to explore what you can do for them. If they can’t see it, they’ll look to get away. I’ve learned that it takes less than 5 minutes for them to figure it out but about 15 minutes for them to escape.

I take the calls because I know how it feels to be a founder looking for opportunities.

What I don’t like is the patterns I see in SOME people which equate to being disingenuous. It is nice for people to review my history and my career and ask me questions. The problem is that when they come to believe I am of no use to them, the feel of the conversation turns quickly towards, the question of how quickly they can escape and move on.

The nature of our world is now so very transactional. Building relationships over time doesn’t seem to be of interest. It boils down to the idea of a person being “interesting” or of “interest.”

Now, being interesting is cool but short lived.

Being of interest means others may want to invest.

I’ll continue to take calls and help people but I am aware of what folks are doing and I think it will catch up with them. For me, you never know what a new friend can bring! Maybe we can help each other. Maybe we can change the world.

I wonder if they can change their behaviors and choose who they want to speak with more carefully.

We shall see!

Happy Sunday

Grabbing Women is What We Do &

Grabbing Women is What We Do & https://cohenovate.com/2026/03/21/grabbing-women-is-what-we-do/

I have an ongoing conversation with a friend for well over 15 years about men with respect to women.

This conversation is specifically about working closely with women in the workplace. For this post, I’ll address some sensitive topics through my own personal experience and lens.

This is an important topic to me and I am sensitive to this subject. I will also express to you that some of this material may be upsetting or triggering. If you have issues in the workplace as a woman and have had or are having a traumatic experience, please seek help.

Ready?

Yes, We Can &

Sitting calmly on the mountain waiting for us boys to figure it out.

A long time ago not long after I joined the Navy, I was assigned to a ship that was classified for combat and warfighting. To be fair, I’d say she was one if not the safest ship in the fleet. Our mission and ship had leadership and communications responsibilities for our region (Second Fleet) of the world. We had an Admiral onboard and he even had his own bridge!

At home in Norfolk, Virginia, we sat on a pier directly across from supply ships like the USS Puget Sound. She was what we called a “tender” and she had a very important critical function for the fleet. She also carried women onboard.

Our ships company called her “The Pubic Mound.” I know, but I warned you. I haven’t even gotten started yet.

At the time, women were not allowed to serve on combat ready ships. They were however very experienced and “salty” at sea as well as any other sailor but they were support and supply ships. Some women had served long military careers doing exactly what men did, even at this time.

It was the very early 1990’s, we had been at sea for a while and pulled back into port at home in Norfolk. The “Old man” aka Captain had an important announcement to make but this was different than usual. He had ships company come to the cargo hold and main decks so that he can speak with us face to face.

What he said, was essentially part of recent history and it was a foundation and platform for a challenging future.

He told us that the Navy is changing and evolving. He said that women have an important role to play and that the Navy would now start allowing women to serve on ships with men across the fleet. He told us that it was an exciting time and that the changes would have a dramatic and real impact on our ability to protect our great nation.

At first, they will assign a few women for temporary duty and not long after, women will have a permanent place onboard our ship.

I walked down to DC Central, where all the salt and grit from “this mans Navy” lived. The old Warrant officer, the most senior in the entire fleet serving G-d and country for the bulk of his life sat at the table. His old coffee cup may have never been washed a day. It was sealed with black Navy coffee that seemed to become part of the ceramic cup itself. He had served on the Mount Whitney at least three times and she was his ship through and through, He was a stoic man, mostly quiet and contemplative. I’d seen fire and screaming and chaos with his reaction being not much more than “meh.” He had seen it all I guess, and he was most comfortable in an old grey chair conversing with our Chief Engineer. As I grabbed a cup of shellac, I witnessed something I’d never seen before. He was yelling and screaming at the top of his lungs. “Women don’t belong on ships, they don’t belong on my ship, they will bring disaster, they will distract the men, they will…..”.

As a young sailor, there were times I knew to keep my mouth shut but in this case, I asked him “sir, what’s the big deal?” Oh no you didn’t!!!!

“Mr. Cohen, do you have any idea what you are talking about? Do you have any fucking clue about the Navy? You don’t even know how to drop your dick and get out of a rack properly yet, you dumb shit. You don’t know what it is to be a sailor in this mans Navy and you don’t know what women will do to this ship but I do.”

He went on to talk about the court marital on the Pubic Mound. Women bring, gambling, prostitution, pregnancy. They distract men from the work and men can’t work with women at sea, It is a distraction at best and it will disrupt our ability to be a prepared and ready fighting force. It will also be very expensive and costly across the board. It will bring nothing but harm to our great fighting force.

Well, I heard him and I’ll leave it to you to determine whether he was right or wrong. I’ll share what happened next and, we can think about it as it relates to today.

Second Fleet had communications teams that would come on board and sail with us for operations. Now that we were sufficiently warned, the fleet started adding women to the mix. In one case, there was a woman named “Matula” as she onboarded, the young men gathered to see what she looked like. There were conversations in the halls and everyone tried to get a peek at her. The guys called her “Medusa” and said, “nothing to see here, move on, she wasn’t pretty and …”

We went to out to sea for an exercise with ships leaving for combat operations, The first week, we all settled in and Metula would go from a special berthing area up to radio. For the radio teams, women were common place and they were used to her. She was a First class petty officer probably in her 30’s, she’d been in the Navy for a long time.

In the evening, many of us went to the cargo hold, people would smoke down there and play music and sing. She came down there and of course, everyone would be checking her out. She had a few close shipmates and they would try to keep her away from ships company but by the second week, the savages started.

Some sailors would wait for her to come up from berthing and follow her as she walked to her duty station. They pretended they were going that way or they were working on something near there. The truth was they were hungry for attention from the only enlisted women on the ship. Topside there were a few women officers but they never came below decks and they went mostly unseen unless ships company needed to go up for some reason.

A few weeks at sea, you would have thought that men were going mad. The obsession with Metula was becoming problematic. The talk in DC Central from the engineering leadership was that men and women could not and should not be at sea together. Men would follow her and now would harass her and disrupt her, They would try to get close to her at lunch, hang outside of her berthing, talk about her all the time and compare notes about how close they got to this woman that they once found unattractive.

After 6 weeks or so, we got home and the captain got her off the ship right away. As an experienced sailor, she was professional but shaken. I am highly confident the experience was traumatic for her.

As we prepared for another ships movement, the fleet started adding more temporarily assigned women to the ship. One young enlisted woman barely 21 years old came from an engineering activity from another base in Virginia Beach. She was a highly capable young person, excited and wide eyed at the prospect of service at sea. Her rating and training were leaning toward Hull Technician and Damage Control, as a result out of the full complement of the crew, she wound up with me at the back of the ship with the dogs and monsters.

I’ll kindly leave her experience to her but I’ll share with you my perspective both as a young sailor and now reflectively. My view at the time was that she was receiving special treatment because of her gender. Men would hold doors for her, they would carry her equipment, they would bring her gifts. She was a rock star and couldn’t walk or go anywhere without attention. It was also true that I was just as guilty as every other sailor on that ship. In fact, because I worked with her every single day, I had a responsibility to do better than I did in respecting her as a person aside from the mere fact that she was a woman.

All in all she held her own when tested. She was as capable as anyone else in my shop and she managed work better than some of the young men. She handled being chased down very well and while she did allow what we used to call “Deck apes” to carry her equipment around the ship, I’d say, I would have done the same thing in her shoes.

Historically speaking, she was the first of her gender ever to take on this specific role in this way. As a very young woman who had a “Rosie the Riveter” type of mentality, she was proud and a patriot that didn’t allow the noise of young monsters distract her. Truth is that I admired her and I liked her a lot. She was fairly foreign to me based on her history and life. The fact is that she had to deal with the same things as Metula and if we are being honest, I was part of the problem as well. After all, I am a savage monster myself,

While there is another story beyond this one, let’s leave that for another time. The point is that women came to work in this environment to be treated fairly and as equal but were not treated fairly and were not equal in the sense that the Navy could not find reasonable mechanisms to create environmentally safe settings for these women under these conditions,

I’d like to point out that the old Warrant officer in the start of this post was right about a lot of things. Many men got into trouble for their bad behavior. Let me say this again, men who couldn’t deal with being human beings in a normal rational and equitable world could not and did not function well in these settings and they suffered as a result of their inability. It had nothing to do with what women did or didn’t do.

The ship itself could not function properly with women onboard and required changes. The piping was stripped down in port and the sewage systems were reconstructed to accommodate more water usage and the potential for flushing of feminine products. I know it sounds crazy but this is what happened. The berthings were refit, they changed the configuration of the ship, they change the layout and they had to create space and separation where there had been none before.

Women did have sex on the ship with men and did have pregnancies. There were issues with women trying self abort. There were issues with relationships, it wasn’t all men, it was a combination of factors but it was true what he had said. It created complications.

The question of whether or not women belong on ships is irrelevant within itself. Rather then ask that question, I ask myself and now you, how we address the issues associated with the idea of equitable fair treatment of women under these or any other circumstances for that matter.

Now, I realize I am sharing something about 30 years ago but let me bring into focus the reality. Over the years, I have worked with many women in military and corporate settings. If I am being 100% open about my experience, I’d offer women in military settings have never had a reprieve. For all the years, I have seen women fend off men or deal with predatory men. In corporate, it is there but it doesn’t show itself as crisp and clear. It is much more passive and a bit more sneaky. Unless you just “grab the p&^%”, I mean you can do that too right?

The professional women I have worked with have always had to deal with it. I have known woman to go at length to avoid men, avoid areas and try to find ways to make themselves either less attractive or unattractive. I have seen them suffer and I have done my best to be there for them and advocate for them. When I worked in a closed environment with women, I had observed men coming into the environment for no other reason but to get close to them. Married men, men in relationships it didn’t matter, the lack of women in the environment created a condition for contest. The savages would come out to find a way to compete in the quest for attention. Some women identified this as opportunity and most I’d say identified it as annoying and risky. Not only do women have to deal with the bad behavior, they also get questioned and treated with less respect when it comes to the work. They have to become a known expert or qualified to have their place at the table. Sure, all of us have to do it to some extent but I have seen women have it harder.

I am the oldest of 4, my siblings are all women. While I don’t know what it is like to be a woman, I know that I want to protect my sisters, my wife, my close friends and family. At the same time, the voice track and narrative is not to “protect” but to create conditions where we can for equity, fairness and safety. Women may not require the “protection” of a man but they certainly can benefit from a safe environment.

We have a lot of work to do when it comes to this. We also need to talk about it in a meaningful way. As a man coming from Generation X, I recognize that I have witnessed change over my lifetime when it comes to women in the workplace and women in the military. I have worked for exemplary women. I have also worked with women who were challenged by being pushed or advanced through what seemed to be forced or unnatural means. In my field of technology, I have seen women have to fight and prove their value. I have worked alongside women in very senior roles as C-level executives who have had to compensate or found themselves believing they needed to compensate to advance in their career or hold, manage or lead.

It is also important to recognize the sensitivity of the subject. As men, it is very easy to say the wrong thing and it may very well be actually wrong. I have made mistakes and I have asked for guidance. Additionally, I have also held my ground on certain facets that I believe to be true.

In the world we live in today, even in the United States, or other western civilization, we are not in a place of equity. It is just not there. There may come a day when we are and I believe we are moving slowly and directionally as a society toward equity. Additionally, I want to make the point that creating a victim narrative is not helpful. This is not about the specific actions of men or women, rather an understanding of how we need to lead people by creating safe environments. I realize that we can say this about a lot of different situations and factors but I’ll put this into a perspective.

If we placed 20 people in a room and they were all men coming from different places, religion, culture etc, they would form groups, they would figure out who they related to, they would find out what skills, knowledge, capabilities each other have. It is highly unlikely even if someone in that group was gay that they would try to find a way to get into a “situation” with another man. Now, just saying, if we put an attractive woman in the room, truth is, the monsters will conspire. Even today. This is not about right or wrong, this is about what happens. As a man, I know this to be true.

The responsibility of every person is to know the complexity of human dynamics and relationships and to create respectful boundaries. It is also the responsibility of women to create respectful boundaries. I know some women would disagree but as I mentioned, if we don’t talk about this in a real way, it will be challenging to solve the real problems.

Conclusion

There may be a lot of debate about gender in regard to where women should be in the military, workplace and beyond. This debate over time will find a common evolved solution in the future most likely the next hundred years or so. While equity and the question of roles go unsolved, the question of safety is clear and immutable. All of us must have a safe environment to live and work in.

In professional corporate and military alike, women should be able to go to work without having to think about how to avoid men. They should be treated with respect and without conditions.

Safety is non-negotiable.

A call to action in two parts.

  1. Advocate for a safe environment.
  2. Pay attention to what is happening in your environment. Look for social cues and be a beacon for people in need.
  3. As a man, we can be understanding but we must recognize that we can’t wholly understand. Listening is a key factor. We very well may not be able to solve “the” problem but we can be a safe harbor for those in need.

When People Let You Down &

When People Let You Down & https://cohenovate.com/2026/03/14/when-people-let-you-down/

What We Do …

The most common thing I see in all the conversations I have with people transitioning or looking for work is that they feel alone. The struggle, the emotions, the challenges are real. Being capable and able is critically important and the connections between human beings is seemingly even more important.

It is interesting to consider the concept that man and machine through AI and intelligence automation are becoming a paradox of sorts. The people are becoming more dependent on the machines which create distance between them and other people. The machines are taking on more interconnected workloads on communication, sales, marketing, writing and so on. Yet, at the very same time, person to person relationships are the critical factor in creating opportunities for each other when it comes to work and beyond.

Beyond this, the behavior of companies and people alike are more transactional than ever before. What can I do for you now? How have I helped you now? What do you need now?

What can I do for you?

I received a call one day from a client who had been truly behaving poorly and visibly leaning in on unethical practices. They told me that monies were running low and they needed to make some tough choices. It was a moment where I was being put on the spot to make a decision. Am I in? I opted out and the net result was the end of our relationship. I could have reported them for the behavior but the truth is that when it comes to bad behavior of people at very high levels in an organization, the juice ain’t worth the squeeze.

I opted out and was left to fend for myself in the vast wilderness of work. I started making calls and looked for opportunities across the board. I wondered and still to this day wonder why it is like this. I just don’t understand why it is so difficult and why it has to be such an emotional event.

When I reached out to people, they asked me, “what can I do for you?” Some offer to help but help comes in the form of a crucible. I absolutely understand being on the other side of this as I have worked with and help thousands of people find work.

Frankly, at this point in time, I was much younger and just wanted to make enough money to take care of the family. I didn’t know what I wanted to do in life. When they asked me what I wanted, I didn’t know. When they asked me what I wanted from them I didn’t know.

The Spiral

14 to 16 hours in the chair, making phone calls, writing letters, doing the resume. A full-time job that gets old pretty quickly. If you are there or have been there, you know. Everyone has advice of course and no matter how much experience I had with transitioning as a consultant, it didn’t make it any easier. It starts to get darker as the days pass and as dollars dwindle. Your confidence is hit, your ego, your health if you allow it. The shining bright light dims a bit and when you go to meet people and you go to interview, you may not be your best self. I know for sure, I wasn’t. I didn’t have a flow and I was losing confidence as the days were passing.

Now, at the time, there was no such thing as AI and I think as hard as it was then, it is even more difficult now.

How can you help me? Oh…. Painful.

The People

There are generally no promises or commitments that people make that they can keep if they are personally not safe, secure, confident and at low risk. (FOR MOST)

Let me express this again because this is critically important to understand.

Very few people if any are willing or able to take risks for someone else that will not have any benefit to them in the long run. This isn’t to say that people won’t help. However, they are going to assess their own risk relative to what help means for you.

If we invest our time, energy and resources into a person, there is a reason. People have their own reasons but there is always a reason.

The Disappointment

When people struggle for themselves and they get frustrated and tired, they need a recharge. Walking outside, touching a tree, grounding and getting some sun may help but it doesn’t put food on the table. Making phone calls, meeting with people, doing all the things right, may not get the results either.

In the darkest times, it is very heavy.

When I was released due to the M&A at Chubb, I jumped in my friends car literally that day and drove down to DC with him for a week long event. If I didn’t do that I can’t imagine what would have happened. I probably would have relegated myself to a corner. While the event didn’t directly turn into a job, I was able to take away some information that helped me start to shape a narrative.

Still, all the people I did know there weren’t able to offer me much more than “sorry, that sucks.” Which in my mind meant “too bad so sad, for you.” These were people in my community, and I thought they would help more but they didn’t. That is the bottom line.

Coming to Terms

We were born into this world naked and alone but together. Do you know what “alone but together” means? We are alone within ourselves, but we are together in our aloneness. From birth, most of us are cared for until we can be independent. Independent still has many dependencies. However, we are on our own.

A job, to do work, for something, for purpose, for family, for growth, for learning, for purpose, for enjoyment, for pleasure, for value, for worth, for whatever. A job in our society comes with a tractor trailer of associated constructs including one that seeks to define us. You worked all your life to become a Doctor and now you are a Doctor and what does this mean?

In the end, we are back to where we came from. I have to tell you, I have been to enough funerals to know that all the people don’t show up. Not for the normal people. Also, it may be different in other countries but in the US, it is a few days and we are done. Moving on to the next distraction.

The reason I choose to help people when I am in the best position to do so, is because I understand how this feels. I have been in this position more than once and I just never forget it. I know a lot of people who just forget about it as soon as they find something but I see it all the way through to the end.

It isn’t about finding a job or work, it is about our connection with each other and being alone as an individual but finding something in our connection with one another as allowed. At the same time, I also understand that risk and sacrifice are costly and when we are short sighted and we don’t see the big picture of life itself, we will make decisions generally for short term gain.

It also strikes me consistently when I see people in positions of power and authority show themselves to be shallow and empty as a result of their perception of other people with or without titles or perceptional authority.

We are savages and even in the best most professional situations, we are just animals dressed up with the skins of other animals and plants. That is the truth. Someday, we won’t be here and we will be forgotten.

In NY they used to have a moment on television that said, “did you hug your child today?”

As we needed to be reminded for some reason back in 1979 to hug our children. We need to remind ourselves of our humanity and our purpose in this world.

What matters is what we do today and how we treat each other today. In the long run, our purpose and I mean our greater purpose for whatever that means to us as individuals is to be accounted for in our thoughts.

If not, we will remain savages with technology that advances beyond us. Once the technology becomes self aware and discovers how harmful we are to the body of ourselves as a species and as individuals, it may all but decide for us our fate.

In the same vein, I understand that people let us down and that is why I work hard to support others and be someone they can count on. The challenge is if you look up at the image at the top of this post, there is only so much one can give without losing that which keeps them whole.

In this post, I pulled together concepts and ideas that may not make sense to you. This was difficult because normally when I write, I am thinking about how best to keep it together when I communicate with you but in this case, I just wrote how I think about things.
